Her birthplace was in Barbados and was raised to reggae. As she started to sing, she became a professional singer. Because of the turmoil in her household and the arguments that her parents were having, she turned to music. She soon decided that she was going to make a profession of a performer. At the age of 16 she joined a group of musicians. They also was able to meet music producer Evan Rodgers. He was impressed with her talent. He requested for the teenager to move into New York and pursue a professional singing career. Rihanna jumped at the chance to take it. Her debut album quickly was a huge success and she was hailed as the next big thing in music. The young crowd was captivated by her enthralling songs which had them on their feet. This made her a star in the film industry. She's a young, skilled woman that has grown into a style icon and a teen icon. Rihanna uses her celebrity to good use, and is actively involved with several charities.
